🤠 Buffalo Bandits Win 2023 NLL Finals

On Saturday, the Buffalo Bandits claimed the franchise’s fifth NLL title and first since 2008 by defeating the Colorado Mammoth, 13-4. When Colorado forced Game 3 of the NLL Finals it felt like déjà vu again for Buffalo fans, but the Bandits flipped the script and manhandled the Mammoth in front of a sold-out crowd in Buffalo. Josh Byrne had four goals and three assists in his return to the lineup and Dhane Smith was named NLL Finals MVP after recording two goals and seven assists in Game 3 and a total of 23 points in the series.

📺 Throwback: Kyle Hartzell’s Rusty Gate on Ryan Boyle

While Cannons LC LSM Brodie Merrill continues to get praise for his longevity (and rightly so), new Cannons long pole Kyle Hartzell has quietly built a prolific career as well. The 37-year-old is playing in his 16th and final pro season and last week’s game put him in elite company. While Hartzell will miss Week 2 due to injury, he needs just one more game to pass Paul Rabil, John Grant Jr. and Matt Striebel to secure fourth most games played all-time. He also currently ranks seventh all-time in groundballs among defenders and LSMs.

So, let’s throw it back to one of the greatest “rust gate” checks of all time. It’s poetic that arguably Hartzell’s nastiest check came against his new team—and one of the newest members of the Pro Lacrosse Hall of Fame, Ryan Boyle. (Sorry, Ryan!)
